In the forest appears 113 plant association and over 8500 species of animals (mammals, birds, insects); from them over 220 species of birds. The Bialowieza Forest is inscribed on the UNESCO World`s Natural Heritage List. First of all the Bialowieza region is inhabited by huge bisons. Majority of the world bison`s population lives in the Bialowieza Forest. Bialowieza is a bird`s paradise where you can meet all the European species of woodpecker, nine species of owls, crane, wood grouse and many species of the eagles, including short-toed eagle, lesser spotted eagle.
